Woodrow Wilson, born in 1856, was an academic-turned-politician who served as the 28th president of the United States from 1913 to 1921. He enjoyed great popularity and was considered a legendary figure in Poland, particularly during the 1920s.

"Miracle on the Vistula" is a term commonly used to refer to the fighting near Warsaw, which took place in August 1920 during the Polish-Russian war. In these fights, Polish troops resisted the Bolshevik forces, which sought to continue their westward expansion in order to spread the communist revolution. In the history of Poland, there are only a few battles so important for the fate of our country and, simultaneously, for the entire world at the time.

A great patriot, General Tadeusz Jordan Rozwadowski, never sought honors or fame, because deeds were most important to him, and it is through them that all his greatness is revealed.

Paderewski was deliberately forgotten by the ruling camp in the interwar period, and after the war, actively suppressed by the communists. Also today, there is a lot of incorrect or incomplete information about him on the Internet. To this day, there is no complete, objective monograph of him.

The myth about the active and massive participation of Poland and Poles in the Holocaust should be treated in the same way as the myth about Judeo-Bolshevism — as a manipulation aimed at shifting responsibility for crimes onto someone else.

In a specific competition on the "market" of memory, "Solidarity", understood as it is today, will never "win" with, for example, the Warsaw Uprising and other heroic uprisings for independence. Interestingly, research shows that young Poles do not turn away from the word "history" — on the contrary, they are ready to explore it in a way that is attractive to them.

On August 12, on the grounds of the former German extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, another Great March of Life and Freedom of Poles and the Polish Diaspora took place in honor of the victims murdered there.

U.S. and German appeasement and weakness at the NATO summit are inviting Russian escalation of violence, which eventually might bring results that Russia sought at the beginning of the war. The Biden administration created a political and military framework in which Ukraine cannot win.

Today, in order to maintain Polish identity in the US and build pro-Polish lobbying, weekend voluntarism is no longer enough. It is necessary to professionalize Polonia and attract its intellectual base.

In the context of the debate that has flared up in Poland after the publication of a much-needed report on war losses suffered as a result of German aggression and criminal occupation, it seems obvious that the time has come to start work on preparing estimates of losses as a result of Soviet actions.

Halecki’s living, teaching, lecturing, researching, writing and publishing books and articles in America for over thirty years, have greatly enriched and broadened American historical scholarship. Poles and persons of Polish origin cannot afford to forget the memory of one of Poland’s greatest sons.
